Tankmeasure / Volume made visible

How full is
your tank?

Turn the tank’s inside dimensions and liquid depth into litres, cubic metres and remaining space. Rectangular or cylindrical. Empty, part full or full.

01 / Your tank

Measure the inside.

Changing the unit converts your current dimensions.
Use the same unit. Enter 0 for empty; measure the liquid, not the air space.
02 / Estimated liquid volume
1,584 litres

1.584 m³

Total geometric capacity
3,168 L
Space remaining
1,584 L
Percentage full

Measured liquid depth
0.55 m

Ideal internal geometry, before fittings or unusable space. Horizontal cylinders need the curved-segment calculation; half the depth is half full, but quarter depth is not quarter full. See the method.

A better volume estimate starts
with the right measurements.

Inside, not outside.

Wall thickness reduces the space available. Use internal length, width, height or diameter rather than the outside dimensions printed on a product listing.

Depth is not percentage.

In a horizontal cylinder, the first few centimetres hold much less liquid than the middle few centimetres. The curved cross-section changes the relationship.

Geometry is an estimate.

Rounded ends, sloping bases, pipes, fittings and unusable bottom volume can change the real capacity. Compare with a manufacturer’s calibration chart when available.
